Travel Itinerary

Your journey begins with your arrival at Kathmandu via Tribhuvan International Airport, where you will experience your first glimpse of Nepal’s vibrant capital city surrounded by green hills and distant mountain ranges.

After completing immigration and collecting your luggage, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative outside the arrival terminal, who will assist you with your transfer to the hotel. It is a short journey from the airport to your hotel, but it is a good opportunity to get a taste of the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu’s streets, its colourful marketplaces and mixture of traditional and modern ways of living.

When you arrive at the hotel you will check-in and have some time to unwind after your journey. Consider resting at the hotel or taking a brief walk around the area, depending on your arrival time. If you arrive at an area that is touristy like Thamel for example, you will find a lively environment with plenty of restaurants and shops.

This first day is kept light and flexible to help you recover from travel fatigue and gradually adjust to the environment of Kathmandu, preparing you for the cultural exploration ahead.

After breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu, your full-day sightseeing tour begins with a guided exploration of the Kathmandu Valley’s most important cultural and historical landmarks. The day offers a full immersion into the country’s rich culture with a combination of Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, ancient royal palaces and conventional city life.

The tour usually starts with a visit to Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), a sacred Buddhist site located on a hilltop overlooking the valley. From here, one may enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Kathmandu. Prayer flags, historic shrines and joyful monkeys lend charm to the place.

Next, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with historic palaces, courtyards, temples, and intricate Newari architecture that reflects the city’s royal past.

Afterwards, the tour continues to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and an important center of Tibetan Buddhism. The previously serene ambiance and the nearby monasteries, with their spinning prayer wheels, produce a very spiritual experience.

Finally, you will visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most revered Hindu temples devoted to Lord Shiva on the banks of the Bagmati River. You can see the traditional rites and learn the spiritual importance of Hindu culture in Nepal here.

By the end of the day, you return to your hotel after experiencing a rich combination of history, culture, and spirituality that makes Kathmandu one of the most culturally diverse capitals in the world.

On the third day in Kathmandu, you continue exploring more cultural, historical, and local experiences that further deepen your understanding of the Kathmandu Valley. After breakfast, the day begins with excursions to some of the less crowded but equally important heritage sites, giving you a more relaxed aspect of the city than the famous landmarks of the day before.

The tour may include Patan Durbar Square, located in the city of Lalitpur, which is famous for its exquisite Newari architecture, ancient palaces, and finely carved temples. This area is often considered a living museum of art and craftsmanship. You can also visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is famous for its well-preserved medieval charm, traditional pottery squares and local lifestyle that seems unspoiled by modern development.

During the day, you will also have opportunities to explore local markets, handicraft centers, or traditional artisan workshops where you can see pottery-making, wood carving, and metal crafts. These experiences give you a closer look at the daily life and artistic traditions of the Kathmandu Valley.

By evening, you return to your hotel with a deeper appreciation of the cultural richness and historical depth of Kathmandu, completing a well-rounded exploration of its most iconic and hidden heritage sites.

On your final day in Kathmandu, you will enjoy a relaxed morning depending on your flight schedule. After breakfast at the hotel you may have some free time for last minute packing, a brief walk around surrounding streets or just resting before your travel home. If you have some time, you may also buy souvenirs, handicrafts or local products from surrounding marketplaces to remember your Nepal trip.

Later, a representative from Jagadamba Holidays will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. You will be assisted with luggage and check-in procedures to ensure a smooth exit from the country.

As you leave Kathmandu, you carry with you memories of ancient temples, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, vibrant streets, and the rich cultural experience of the Kathmandu Valley Tour.

This marks the end of your journey in Kathmandu, leaving you with lasting impressions of Nepal’s history, spirituality, and warm hospitality.
