Trip Description - Historical & Heritage Tour

Just above the Chobar Gorge and next to the Jal Vinayak Temple is a beautiful park. Anandadi Lokeshwar Temple is a sacred temple for Hindus and Buddhists in Chobar village outside Kathmandu, Nepal. The temple is dedicated to Anandadi Lokeshwar, one of the four principal bodhisattvas revered as Lokeshwars of the Kathmandu Valley (or Adinath to Nepali speakers, who regard this deity as one of the four Matsyendranaths). It was built in the 15th century, then rebuilt in the 1640s. Tourists often refer to it as the “Pot and Pan” temple, because of all the household appliances affixed on its walls.

Accounts for this custom vary, but all relate to the well-being of the deceased in the afterlife. Various legends are associated with the deity. The story begins when Manjushree came to the valley to make the lake and the valley habitable. Manjushree, who took the name of Manjudeva for residence, came to the valley and cut the side of the mountain near the low hill called Kacha Palagiri of Chobar.

The Chobar Hill near the low hill called Kachchhpala Giri got angry when Manjudev cut the hill. But Manju replied that she should be happy after draining the pond. The valley would become the seat of a great civilization and one day Sri Tin Lokeshwar would come to reside in the Chobar Hills. Many years later, when the valley had become a center of civilization and a king named Dharmakara was ruling, Manjushri told Sri. He decided to return to the valley as Manjudeva to have a visit to Jyotirupa Swayambhu. He brought Kashyapa Tathagata with him. The two decided to establish a monastery in the valley to teach and advise the people.

Vihar is located in Manjupatna. To ensure proper worship for himself and Kashyapa Tathagata, he selected a certain Acharya, instructed him in rituals and appointed him and his descendants as official Devapala (he appointed Dayapala as Pujari at Neva). Manjushree is known as Adinath by the people there. The image of Adinath was carried down the river to a place called Jai Tirtha where a person named Suva Acharya was doing penance. Seeing this river washed away, he recognized the life of Adinath Karunamay and placed it in an urn. He came to him in the form of a jasmine flower, took the urn to the Kachchpala hill in Chobhar, transferred it to the idol and gave it to Anandadi. At the end of a year he decided to take an annual bath. The image and date assigned are the first day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra, the anniversary day of his extracting the soul of the deity from the river statue is celebrated.

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is located in a valley surrounded by the Himalayan mountains. Nepal offers amazing cultural and religious tourist attractions that cannot be found anywhere else. The three major historical cities of Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur are known for their numerous historical, old palaces and palaces. Pilgrimages and temples of eternal tradition and legend have made Nepal a veritable living museum. There are seven world cultural heritage sites within a radius of 20 km in Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu is both the capital of Nepal and the country’s largest city. Some of the interesting tourist spots in the city include Durbar Square, Kal-Bhairav, Budhanilkantha, Kumari Devi, Dakshinkali, Chobhar Gava and Sundarijal etc. At the heart of the old city’s glorious streets is Kathmandu Durbar Square, which becomes frenzied during Indra Jatra, a religious festival of masked dances. The palace, the Hanuman Dhoka and the wooden Hindu temple Kasthamandap of Durbar Square are being reconstructed.

      Bhaktapur Palace

Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a former royal palace complex located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. From the 14th century to the 15th century, the Malla kings of Nepal and the kings of the Bhaktapur kingdom until the end of the 15th century lived here until they conquered the kingdom in 1769. Today, this category is managed jointly by the Archeology department and it is recognized by UNESCO as well. Durbar Square Mall is the common name of Durbar Square and is also found in Kathmandu and Patan. The one in Bhaktapur was considered the largest and grandest among the three at the time of independence, but now many buildings occupying this area have been destroyed due to frequent earthquakes. At its height, Bhaktapur Durbar Square had 99 courtyards, but today only 15 courtyards remain.

      Changu Narayan Temple

History lovers are in for a treat – the nearly 2000-year-old Changu Narayan Temple, located north of Bhaktapur and west of Nagarkot, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple stands as a testament to ancient culture and architecture. Overlooking the verdant valley, the Changu Narayan Temple sits atop a hill surrounded by fragrant magnolia trees. The carvings and style of the holy place are truly stunning.

      Chhobhar Gorge

Anandadi Lokeshwar Temple is a sacred temple for Hindus and Buddhists in Chobar village outside Kathmandu, Nepal. The temple is dedicated to Anandadi Lokeshwar, one of the four principal bodhisattvas revered as Lokeshwars of the Kathmandu Valley (or Adinath to Nepali speakers, who regard this deity as one of the four Matsyendranaths). Patan Durbar Square

Patan is the second largest medieval city in the valley after Kathmandu. Patan city in Lalitpur is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments with bronze gateway guardian deities and wonderful carvings. Patan city is also known as the city of art. The city is believed to have been built in 299 AD in the ruling time of Virdev. Although, Patan is a enchanting mélange of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and attractive pagoda temples. The square was a former royal palace complex that was the vent of religious and social life, and houses a museum containing an array of bronze statues and religious monuments. A notable monument here is a 17th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Krishna, built entirely of stone.

    Accommodation offered during the trip

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. You can learn more about different types of travel and their features and the proposed travel price by contacting us directly where we will be very pleased to answer your questions. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character reflecting the best value based on twin share accommodation.

When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website.
