Lake Tilicho is home to some of the world’s top scuba divers. According to the Department of Water and Meteorology of Nepal, there are no aquatic organisms in the lake. The Hindus believe that Tilicho Lake is the ancient Kak Bhusundi Lake mentioned in the epic Ramayana. Kak Bhusundi is believed to have been the first sage to narrate the events of Ramayana to the eagle king Garuda near this lake. While telling the story to the eagle, the sage took the form of a crow. Crow means kak in Sanskrit, hence the name of the sage is Kak Bhusundi.

Trip Description - Tilicho Lake Trek

The Tilicho Lake Trek starts from Kathmandu, the capital of the Himalayan state of “Nepal“, where you will explore the city at your leisure in anticipation of your ascent. Tilicho Lake, located near the main route of the Annapurna Circuit trek, is the historic and most popular side hike destination for hikers. Tilicho Lake is the “Highest Lake in the World” located in Manang district of Nepal where crows come from Pokhara in Kanski district. Geographically, it is located at an altitude of 4,919 meters in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas. Lake Tilicho is home to some of the world’s top scuba divers. According to the Department of Water and Meteorology of Nepal, there are no aquatic organisms in the lake.

Usually, the guide for Thorong La Pass trekking in Annapurna circuit of Nepal is an invaluable requirement for security management. At an altitude of 5,416 meters above sea level, this pass is the most difficult place for trekking in the Annapurna circuit. At this altitude, only half of the oxygen is available at sea level. This means that every step you take makes you feel like you are running a marathon. If trekkers have more days of vacation, they can add 3-4 days to their Annapurna circuit trekking to visit Tilicho Lake. There is no need to camp as there are few lodges in Tilicho base camp, and between Manang and Tilicho base camp. The last access to the lake is a one-full day trek from the lodge at Tilicho base camp.

    Accommodation offered during the trip

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. You can learn more about different types of travel and their features and the proposed travel price by contacting us directly where we will be very pleased to answer your questions. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character reflecting the best value based on twin share accommodation.

When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website.
