While the high Himalaya makes up Nepal’s northern region the southern lowland known as Terai is covered with diverse wildlife and exotic birds. In Nepal, you will find some of the most exciting safari destinations in the world. Travelers will be going into deep jungle on elephant back or four-wheel drive vehicles to view wild animals in their natural habitat. The area of Chitwan national park is 932 square kilometers. Chitwan National Park is listed as a natural world heritage site and is the most popular wildlife safari destination in Nepal. This national park covers a unique ecosystem, containing hills, ox-bow lakes and flood plains. Dominated by Sal forest, the park has 50 species of grasses. 43 species of animals include the endangered one-horned rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, Spotted Leopard, Gharial, Crocodile, Gaur, wild Elephant, four-horned Antelope, Striped Hyena, Pangolin, Cobra, Krait and Rattlesnake.

An entry fee must be paid to enter Nepal's protected areas. A park entry permit must be obtained to enter the protected area. Park entry fees can be paid at the Tourist Service Centre, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu or at the entry points. The entry fee given below is as per the information given by the concerned department of Nepal Government. Please follow the table below for entry permit payment.
