Trip Grades

Adventure holidays in Nepal can be graded in accordance with different levels of trip route features and altitude of varying place to place. Most adventure trekking trials start at 700 meters and the destination goal is around 5,800 meters. However, the summit climbing and mountaineering expedition trails range from 5,801 to 8,848.86 meters above sea level. Therefore, we were told that trekking in Nepal can be done by all levels of trekkers except if any one suffers from cardiac or respiratory problems. We like to suggest to our customers that morning and evening walks, jogging; stretching, meditation and regular exercise helps to make you comfortable for all trips. Most important and essential thing is to choose a trek that is fit to your capabilities and present health condition. To show the relative difficulty of our holidays such as trekking, climbing, discovery, cycling, family and other adventure sport holidays, each trip is graded on a difficulty of one to five and one is easiest and 5 is the most tough.

These grades are divided into Easy (Green), Moderate (Yellow), Hard (Orange), Strenuous (Blue) and Technical (Red). To make it easy to understand, we did its simplification by color-coded symbolic grade which provides an indication of the difficulty of each trip. We are often asked about the distance covered (kilometer or miles) on our treks and walking holidays but, because of their ups & downs and snake style routes in mountainous areas, we find it more useful to talk in terms of time spent on the trail (walking hours).

Easy or Green:

The first trekking grade “Easy” we define symbolically by green color because “Green” is the color of balance, harmony and growth and relates to balance and harmony. Green is an emotionally positive color, giving us the ability to love and nurture ourselves and others unconditionally, although it renews and restores depleted energy. This kind of holiday gives an opportunity to walk in the village, help to discover the rural people’s lifestyles and culture in Nepal. You will be able to see the panoramic views of mountains, and know exciting villager’s daily life and walk through a beautiful green forest. Usually, if your trip destination altitude goes up to 3,500 m from sea level will be considered gentle grade or green grade. This can be ideal for any age group and this type of holiday below 3,500 meter of elevation and duration will be about not more than 1-2 weeks. It is a simple and gentle hike or trek or tours. Daily walking in a day will not be below 4-5 hours, but it is depending upon the customer's walking speed.

Moderate or Yellow:

The second trekking grade “Moderate” we define symbolically by yellow color because “Yellow” is the color of the mind and the intellect and relates to acquired knowledge. Yellow inspires original thought and inquisitiveness and helps us to find new ways of doing new things with new ideas. This kind of holiday gives an opportunity to walk in the village, help to discover the rural people’s lifestyles and culture in Nepal. You will be able to see the panoramic views of mountains, and know exciting villager’s daily life and walk through a beautiful green forest. Usually, if your trip destination altitude goes up to 4,500 m from sea level it will be considered moderate grade or Yellow grade. For any physically fit and sound health of all age’s group and this type of holiday below 4,500 meters of elevation and duration will be about not more than 2-3 weeks. It is a moderate and green hike or trek or tours. Daily walking in a day will not be below 5-6 hours, but it is depending upon the customer's walking speed.

Hard or Orange:

The third trekking grade is “Hard” which we define symbolically by orange color because “Orange” is one of the symbols of adventure and optimistic and uplifting and regenerates our spirit. This also offers emotional strength in difficult times. This kind of holiday gives an opportunity to walk in the hilly village, help to discover the rural people’s lifestyles, nature and culture in Nepal. You will be able to see the incredible superb views of mountain peaks, natural valleys, and know exciting villager’s daily life and walk through a beautiful greenery forest and different altitude terrain. Usually, if your trip destination altitude goes up to 5,800 meters from sea level it will be considered hard grade or orange grade. For any physically fit and sound health of all age’s group and this type of holiday below 5,800 meter of elevation and duration will be about not more than 2-3 weeks. It is a difficult and blue hike or trek, short climb or tours. Daily walking in a day will not be below 4 -7 hours, but it is depending upon the customer's walking speed.

Strenuous or Blue:

The fourth trekking grade is “Strenuous” which we define symbolically by blue color because “Blue” is the blue color is one symbol of trust, responsibility, honesty and loyalty and motivation to exhibit an inner security and confidence in difficult times. It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief and also keeping us motivated and helping us to look on the bright side of life. You need to be prepared before going on such holidays physically. Expect long days and difficult terrain to be the rule rather than the exception. Strenuous trekking or tours or holidays is a high chance of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), therefore, you must be suitable to fit and have regular experience of mountain walking. Stamina is very important because normally you have to walk for about 6-9 hours. Extremes of altitude and weather may also be encountered, and on some holidays, it may be necessary to use ice axes and crampons as well as required climbing guides. Usually, if your trip destination altitude goes up to 6,500 meters from sea level will be considered strenuous grade or blue grade.

Technical or Red:

The fifth trekking grade is "technical" which we define symbolically by the color red because "Red" symbolizes energy, passion and adventure and is a warm and positive color associated with our most physical needs and our will to live. It stirs emotions and motivates us to take action because it is powerful and energizing. It promotes pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, ambition and determination. Technical holidays involve many long days and often in isolated areas. To participate in such holidays you need a high level of physical fitness and previous wilderness trekking and mountaineering experience is most essential. This is also known as mountaineering grade so you need all kinds of preparation for expedition. This kind of holiday’s destination will be from 6,501 meter to 8,848.86 meters from sea level.
